Adventures at Camp Grandma – A Show-How Book
It all started with a big box that became a clubhouse that sparked the idea for the first Camp Grandma.
WHAT’S CAMP GRANDMA?
Initially Camp Grandma began as one week of babysitting during the summer with our grandchildren, whose ages were from six to nine years old. It soon developed into an annual event that included a Saturday night talent show starring “The Children of the Light.”
The program for talent night was a showcase for all of the week’s activities. It provided an avenue for the kids to show their parents what they accomplished during the week, and it was prime entertainment for everyone. The camp was especially rewarding because the children participated in the planning, construction, and anticipation of the activities. As they learned skits, songs, dances, arts and crafts, and how to create costumes and stage props, they also learned about Jesus.
WHY?
Grandchildren are God’s way of giving grandparents a second chance to raise children the way they wish their first batch had been raised.
Camp Grandma was the perfect opportunity for me to share Christ with my grandchildren and their parents. Also it gave the kids a foundation for displaying a variety of talents (and bloopers) while performing before family and friends. And now as young adults, my grandchildren have the confidence and poise to stand in front of their peers or a large audience and lead in various work, school, college, and church activities. I sincerely hope that Adventures at Camp Grandma – A Show How Book can be the beginning of a new and exciting adventure for you and your grandchildren.
